Ari Lynn Turner

Ari Lynn Turner, Esq., specializes in governmental affairs, public affairs, facilitation, and mediation. Between 1993 and 2002, Ari held progressively responsible positions with Miami-Dade County, working directly for Mayor Alex Penelas. Legislative experience included analyzing, evaluating and making recommendations on all legislative and policy issues brought before the Board of County Commissioners, and researching and drafting legislation. Executive responsibilities included coordinating the implementation of the Mayor’s policy agenda, developing the Mayor’s budget message, and advising the Mayor on the exercise of the veto. Additional policy issues that Ari has been involved with include public safety, transportation, economic development, community relations, information technology and telecommunications, affordable housing, urban infill, building and zoning, ethics, and property tax relief for elderly residents. From 1992 to 1993, Ari was an associate in the Commercial Litigation section of the law firm Mershon, Sawyer, Dunwody & Cole.

Ari received her J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law in 1992, a B.A., cum laude from Case Western Reserve University in Political Science in 1989 and has been a member of the Florida Bar since September of 1992. She holds certificates from the following: Harvard University Kennedy School of Government (1997 – Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government); Florida International University (2002- Circuit Civil Mediation Training); and Florida Atlantic University (2001 – Building Consensus Solutions to Florida’s Public Problems).

Ari serves on the board of directors of the Greater Miami Habitat for Humanity and the Dade Community Foundation. She is also a member of Leadership Florida, a statewide network of leaders affiliated with the Florida Chamber of Commerce who share a commitment to connect Florida communities and to make Florida a better place in which to live and prosper. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Administrative Law & Procedure at Florida International University’s, School of Policy Management.
